Remember this fantastic event? ‘Closing the Gap’ (with thanks to @creativeedu)
It was an amazing conference with some high level speakers discussing the importance that the arts play in closing the learning gap in our schools. It was a great success and generated a good debate among educators, those in the arts and politicians.
As a follow-up, FILMCLUB is holding a series of forums to take the debate further. ‘HeadRoom’ is for Headteachers to share their knowledge and experience of running Film clubs at school and the effect these and other arts projects have had on achievement. As with the ‘Closing the Gap’ conference there will be a variety of contributors including those in creative industries.
The recent White Paper apparently offers schools more freedom of what they can provide in the way of curricular experiences for their pupils and this will form the basis for the first forum to be held on 27th January at BAFTA headquarters. Full details can be found here
If you are passionate about the arts and know they can make a difference to YOUR pupils then do come along to help shape the support that schools need in order to enrich the lives of many of our children.
