Julia is very kindly giving her time to coach colleagues right now; I am one of the lucky recipients of this time and have benefitted greatly. Julia is a great listener and has such collective wisdom to share with others about people development, research and coaching. She really disrupted my thinking about action research, in a good way!

Abby Bayford, Director of Institute at Academy Transformation Trust

Julia not only supports young people to realise and release their potential through her brilliant writing challenge 100 Word Challenge but she is as skilled at working with grown ups to realise and release their potential too. Julia is one of life’s givers, although retired from education she is one of the busiest educationalists that I know. A keen blogger herself, Julia has used her experience as a teacher and head teacher to develop 100 Word Challenge, a free weekly creative writing challenge for young people that supports the development of children’s writing both in the classroom and at home. Julia manages and organises a group of volunteers to ensure that all children receive at least one positive comment about their writing each week, It really is worth checking out. Julia also supports teaching staff through her school improvement consultancy The Heads Office. She see’s the potential in people and works in a supporting and nurturing manner

Nicki Wadley Strategic Lead for Governance at the Diocese of Gloucester

Julia describes herself as a ‘friendly, listening ear’ and she is indeed just that! She is able to give an objective viewpoint and she is empathetic and supportive. I have found Julia to be a great sounding board and she gave me the gentle yet firm push I needed to branch out on my own! Julia’s understanding of governance is especially helpful in gaining an insight into how schools are led strategically. Julia’s involvement in any project is a positive addition to any team

Audrey Pantelis Senior Education Consultant at Talespin Consultancy Ltd

Julia has been my mentor for approximately 18 months now (as of July 2020) and I intend to continue being mentored by her for a very long time going forward. Julia is a highly experienced educational professional who is also a lovely person and very kind and caring. These skills/experiences and personal qualities combined make her an excellent coach for anyone in education. I am aspiring to become an Assistant Head and Julia is always a text message, phone call, or coffee meet-up away to support me with my applications and interviews. She has also provided me with lots of advice and guidance to help me do my current role (Head of Faculty) better. Julia is so warm and full of energy, I always feel boosted after a session with her. She is the perfect mentor and coach. I highly recommend her!

Katie Lockett Head of Faculty – MFL Gloucester Secondary

I was lucky enough to be offered Julia’s listening ear at a time when I was lacking direction and feeling professionally at sea. She stands out from others because of her: honest, practical yet also creative approach; vast experience and ability to empathise; experience and track record as a Head Teacher in “the system” for so many years; ability to quickly recognise and address the key issues

Lena Carter, Principle Teacher for Looked After Children, Argyll & Bute Council

Julia is energetic and thorough and always totally professional in everything she does. I have worked with her in school governance for over 10 years now. Julia is passionate about school governance and the difference it can make to the lives of children. She has supported a number of governing bodies, developing both the board and individual governors to increase their skills and confidence in her thoroughly professional, yet friendly and warm, manner. Julia is incredibly supportive to others, encouraging them to reach their goals and supporting them on the way. Julia is always ready to give. She is a wonderful listener, attentive to detail, always supportive and solution focused when that is what is needed.

Janet Bremner Clerk to the Board of Trustees at Educate Together Academy Trust

Julia had availability as a listening ear and I asked if I could take her up on the offer. I found Julia to be extremely easy to talk to. She was very wise in her questioning and enabled me to work things through. Thank you, Julia.
